Mr. Edgar Sturgis, 80, of Grovetown, GA, affectionately known as "Walter", entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 30, 2026. He will truly be missed by his loving family and friends. His Life and Legacy will be celebrated with a Visitation/Viewing on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 2-7pm at Martin Taylor Funeral Home, 911 Appling Harlem Rd, Harlem GA 30814. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 2pm at First Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 1876 Appling Harlem Rd, Appling, GA 30802. The Interment will follow immediately afterwards in the Church's Cemetery. Please continue to keep the family and friends lifted up in prayer as they navigate through this time of bereavement.

 

He loved his family dearly and leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 52 years, Brenda Moment Sturgis, two sons: Walter Sturgis, Jr. and Anthony Sturgis, Grovetown, GA; two daughters: Stephanie and Antionette Sturgis, Grovetown, GA; one sister: Betty Sturgis of Augusta, GA; three brothers: Willie (Annie Bell) Sturgis, Grovetown, GA; Rochester Sturgis, Thomson, GA; and Lindsey (Sharon) Sturgis, Augusta, GA. Three grandchildren: Quamaine Sturgis, Athens, GA, Brianna and Mya Sturgis, Grovetown, GA; three sisters-in law: Linda (Willie) Finks, Martinez, GA; Diane Evans, Harlem, GA; and Gloria (Bennie) Palmer, Augusta, GA, two brother-in-laws: Randall Collins, Martinez, GA; Andrew Jerome (Mae) Moment, Hephzibah, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
