Ms. Dorothy Tankersley, a lifelong resident of Harlem, Georgia, entered eternal rest on March 3, 2026. She was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence brought comfort, wisdom, and warmth to all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy graduated from Blanchard High School, Class of 1970. Throughout her life she carried herself with grace and resilience, touching many lives with her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit.

Dorothy was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She treasured the bonds that connected generations and remained closely connected with relatives and friends throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dolfus Tankersley Sr., and her grandson, Antonio Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Aleen Tankersley; her daughter, Renee Tankersley; her son, Alvis Washington, Jr.; her great-grandson, Ayven Arrington; her sisters, Louise Jones and Penelope Johnson; her brothers, Dolfus Tankersley Jr. and Gary Tankersley (LaShonda); along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Visitation and viewing will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Martin Taylor Funeral Home, 911 Appling Harlem Road, Harlem, Georgia 30814.

A Celebration of Life, Legacy, and Entombment will take place Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel and Cemetery, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, Georgia 30813.

Though her earthly journey has ended, the love she poured into her children, her family, and all who knew her will continue to live on in the generations she nurtured.
